Interview: Twig and Vice Photography
I don't get to see enough of Twig & Vine as a photographer so I'm putting it out into the world now that I want to work with him more in 2026! it's an absolute joy to see Mamad on a wedding morning. He's one of the stealthiest photographers ever, and because he's an introvert, you don't always see him about online but his work is stunning. If you're looking for a photographer for your wedding to get those quiet moments in beautiful light, he's ace. He kindly answered my interview questions, so it's a joy to now feature him here for you all along with some weddings we've worked on together over the years!

How’re things with you? Tell me what's happening in your world; perhaps a little review of the last year and what you're excited for in 2026!
It’s been a big year! I finally launched my new website after working on it for almost an entire year. It feels so good to have something that really reflects my work and style. For 2026, I’m excited to start offering Hybrid Photo & Video packages. The video side will be short 3-minute highlight films set to music, perfect for couples who want something emotional and stylish without going for full hog videography.
How did you get into being a wedding photographer, and being a photographer in general?
I’ve been a photographer since finishing my BA (Hons) degree in Photography (a long time ago!). I started out shooting model portfolios, then moved into portraits for music publications and CD covers.
When we moved up to Nottingham about 18 years ago, I photographed my first wedding and instantly loved it. I’ve been doing mostly weddings since.
The industry has changed a lot in the 10+ years I’ve been in business. What do you lament, and what are you pleased has changed?
I do miss the slower pace we used to have — when photographers weren’t expected to constantly post and keep up with social media trends. But I’m pleased that couples today care more about authentic storytelling and real moments over staged, traditional group shots etc. The industry feels more open, creative, and personal now.

Tell me about a wedding supplier that you love working with or that I need to know about.
That has to be Ms Moo (I didn't even have to pay him to say this!). She’s brilliant to work with, super professional, fun to be around, and her makeup photographs beautifully every time. Venue-wise, I’d love to shoot at Grangefields again. I love the atmosphere there, relaxed, laid-back vibes, and just a great space to create in.
What’s the best piece of feedback you’ve ever had about your work?
A bride once said to me “You took the most amazing photos, but we barely noticed you throughout the day!”
That one always stands out because that’s exactly how I like to work; quietly, naturally, and without being intrusive. I’m glad it’s working.
Could you pick one thing people should AND/OR shouldn't have at their wedding?
If done safely, smoke bombs and sparklers are brilliant. They add so much atmosphere and make for striking, creative and colourful photos. As for what not to have, anything that feels forced or stressful. Keep the day true to who you are.

What advice would you give to someone planning a wedding?
As far as photography goes, do your research. There are so many wedding photographers out there now, with all kinds of experience levels. Ask to see a full wedding gallery, not just the highlight reel on socials. It gives you a real sense of how someone shoots the entire day.
Any embarrassing moments at/before a wedding?
I’ll have to think about that one! I’ve not really had many awkward ones as my weddings always run so smoothly!
Anything wedding/business related that you wished you had done differently?
I wish I’d outsourced more of the stuff I didn’t understand early on. Things like marketing, web design and accounting. Trying to do everything myself took up way too much time.
What is your favourite makeup, skincare, or haircare product? (I ask this to everyone, whatever gender, so please put something that you think is awesome and why!)
Honestly, I’m probably the least qualified person to answer that. I use supermarket skincare and I’m bald, so I keep it simple!
