FAQ
Hey, I'm Sali! If you didn't know I'm a specialist wedding and events makeup-artist with well over 10 years of experience and pride myself on having really high standards of service.
If you're looking for a wedding makeup artist, here are some frequently asked questions (FAQs) that I often encounter that might help you when considering booking me!
How far in advance should I book your services for my wedding?
While I can often take last minute requests, I book the majority of my work in advance some 12-18 months in advance. I tend to open the diary for bookings in October; for example in October 2023, I opened my 2025 diary. In October 2024, I will open 2026.
Do I need a trial?
Absolutely! Before the big day, I always recommend a trial; this will let us get to know each other a bit first and you can find out what information you need from me well in advance. We’ll discuss what you want your make-up to do for you; bold brows, subtle shimmer, sharp cheekbones or bright eyes; I won’t rest until you’re 100% happy and have a beaming smile. I do this about 6-8 weeks before your wedding day.
How many people can have their makeup done?
As many as time will allow me! The biggest bridal party I've done was 10 people. As long as I've got caffeine, I'm alright ;) For bigger parties, I can bring a second make-up artist at an additional cost. Be assured that whoever I bring with me on a wedding morning is a professional make-up artist in their own right - they are skilled, talented, and brilliant humans, and I trust them.
What do I need to pay to secure my wedding date?
A non-refundable booking fee of £150.00 is required to hold the date of your wedding in my diary up until your trial with me. This amount is then taken off the final balance of your booking.
How far will you travel for my wedding?
Wherever I'm needed and wanted, I will go! I've been to Croydon, Llangollen, Grimsby, Southend on Sea - have car and passport, will travel! I'm usually booked for weddings in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, but I'm happy to travel around all of the East Midlands. i include 20 miles of travel in my wedding bookings, and then charge 50p per mile for a round booking. All travel and accomodation fees will be discussed with you in advance.
Do you do hair as well as makeup?
No, I don't provide any hair-styling services; hairstyling to me is wizardry! I can recommend you to a number of amazing hairstylists that I work with on a regular basis who have years of experience.
What products do you use?
I take pride in that my make-up kit is 100% cruelty-free. I won't use products that have been tested on animals. I'm also able to offer a fully vegan kit too; just ask! My kit includes but is not limited to Illamasqua, Urban Decay, Tarte Cosmetics, Stila, Hourglass, Morphe and Sugarpill. I use The Body Shop, The Ordinary, and Nip & Fab for my skincare. I ensure that my kit is suitable for all skin tones, all skin types, and sensitive skin too.
How long will it take to do my makeup?
I like to be finished with wedding party makeup approximately an hour before your ceremony or before you need to travel to your wedding. I recommend leaving 60 minutes for your wedding makeup, and around 45 minutes per additional person.
What happesn if you can't do my wedding for some reason?
In the unlikely event that I'm not able to attend your booking due to sickness, injury, personal emergency or any other circumstance beyond my control, a make-up artist of a similar standard will be sourced. This cannot however be guaranteed; if I'm not able to find a replacement makeup artist, you would recieve a full refund of monies paid, minus the booking fee.
Do you provide touch-up services throughout the day?
If this is required, we can price it up that I stay with you for the day or perhaps return to your venue in the evening for a touch-up or complete change in your makeup for your reception. I do provide a touch-up kit though for all my wedding clients, including oil-blotting paper and loose powder with a powder puff.
Can you provide reference or share your portfolio?
Of course! You can view all my Google reviews here, my Facebook reviews here, and my accounts on Hitched and Bridebook. A lot of my weddings get shared on Instagram, and you can see my wedding portfolio right here on my website. If there's anything you'd like to see specifically that you don't see online, just slide in my DMs.
