So I’m Sali, I’m 29 and I’ve lived in Nottingham for about ten years. I hail from Wrexham in Wales and have been a make-up artist for around 8 years now. My nickname on moving to Nottingham was Salimoo and when I needed to decide on a business name, Ms Moo Make Up was just a natural choice.
I believe I’ve got the best job ever. Wedding make-up wasn’t something I ever saw myself doing as I thought it was going to be too stressful, and thought it too daunting to be trusted with someone else’s face on the biggest day of their life. I’d been doing makeup for about four or 5 years when a few friends of mine had got engaged and asked for me to consider doing theirs. Turns out that actually I’m pretty good on a wedding morning; I’m laid back, considerate, well organised and can help diffuse nerves and make people crack a smile with my somewhat dry sense of humour. And I’m pretty good at that make-up thing too!
Lots of my testimonials mention that I’ve a calming influence; offering my hand to squeeze when someone is shaking with nerves or hollering a bridesmaid to get a glass of water or something stronger is part of the service. Your wedding day is for you to enjoy, and being a part of many wedding mornings is an absolute treat for me. I get to enjoy all the laughter, smiles and happy times with you and your nearest and dearest, and make you all look and feel beautiful. Seeing a client smile at themselves in the mirror after I’ve finished their make-up is the best feeling ever; it’s worth every pre-6am alarm clock in the world.
I look forward to writing about my life as a make-up artist here, giving you some tips and hints about make-up/skincare along the way, and sharing the weddings I’ve been a part of.
