Interview: Jason Lynch

Categories: Supplier Interviews

The lovely Jason Lynch! The quietest and calmest videographer ever. He's got a dry sense of humour, and films weddings just how they happen without directing anything - which means you're calm too! The fact so many of his couples say that they barely knew he was there is such a testement to him because he's entirely focused on filming your day as it happens, blending in with you and your guests, and letting the day unfold and capturing it all.

How’re things with you? Tell me what's happening in your world; perhaps a little review of the last year and what you're excited for in 2026!

Things have been great, thanks! 2025’s been a really busy but brilliant year. I’ve had the chance to work with some amazing couples. It’s been one of those seasons where everything’s just flowed really well.

Looking ahead to 2026, I’m excited to continue building on that, finding fresh ways to capture the story of every wedding. It’s going to be another great year.

How did you get into being a wedding videographer, and being a videographer in general?

I’ve always been passionate about film and studied it at university. I knew early on that I wanted to do something creative with it, and weddings ended up being a perfect fit. I filmed a friend’s wedding, they loved the video and things kind of just snowballed from there. It’s been an amazing journey ever since.

The industry has changed a lot in the 10+ years I’ve been in business. What do you lament, and what are you pleased has changed?

I’m glad there’s a lot less judgment about appearance these days, being a shaggy, tattooed guy, that was always a worry in the early days!

I’ve also noticed that photographers and videographers work together much more smoothly than they used to. Back in the day, some photographers were a bit grumbly and could make things tricky, but now with so many videographers around, photographers are generally well-trained in collaborating, which makes life on the day much easier and everyone benefits from it.

Here's one of the weddings Jason and I have worked on together!

What’s the best piece of feedback you’ve ever had about your work?

I can’t pinpoint one specific piece of feedback, but honestly, I just love hearing couples’ reactions after they receive their films. That’s the best feedback I could ask for.

Could you pick one thing people should AND/OR shouldn't have at their wedding?

People should have a videographer! The photos and videos are what you’re left with after the day, and they’re the memories you’ll come back to again and again. A great film captures the emotion, the laughter, and the little moments you can’t always see in the chaos of the day.

What advice would you give to someone planning a wedding?

Always remember to enjoy the day, it goes by so fast! Bury a sausage the day before the wedding… Apparently it’s meant to bring good weather!

Any embarrassing moments at/before a wedding?

I’ll never forget the time I stopped for a fried breakfast on the way to a wedding… and somehow managed to spill beans down my shirt. I had to make a quick detour to the supermarket for a fresh one before arriving! Definitely a “smooth start to the day” moment. Always pack a second shirt!

Anything wedding/business related that you wished you had done differently?

Looking back, I wish I’d trusted my instincts more early on. whether that was setting boundaries, valuing my time properly, or being confident in my pricing. Learning to do that has made a huge difference in running my business and enjoying the work I do.

What is your favourite makeup, skincare, or haircare product? (I ask this to everyone, whatever gender, so please put something that you think is awesome and why!)

(Jason neglected to answer this question, so I can only assume he's under NDA for a haircare brand. And who can blame him?)
