Cruelty Free and Vegan SPF

Categories: Skincare, Products

Anyone and everyone who's had a lesson with me will know I bang on about SPF a lot. Wearing it every day, in a good quantity and sheltering yourself from the sun is the easiest (and one the best) thing you can do for your skin in the long term. And it's such an easy thing to do each day, and to build into a routine!

But buying one can be super confusing, esp with all the letters and numbers and acronyms. What the flippin' heck do they mean?

Here's a simple breakdown for you...

UVA - far more sneaky rays, as these ones cause skin cancer, destroy your skins elasticity by knackering up your collegen, and turn you into a leathery looking bag.
UVB - these ones are the ones that cause burns. Redness, blisters etc - a sign your natural protection has been exceeded and you're in rough territory!
We need to look for BOTH UVA and UVB to make sure we're getting a good amount of protection from both of these rays.

To keep yourself safe in the sun, please:

- reapply every two hours.
- waterproof label can be useful, but remember it still needs reapplying. The protection your sunscreen gives you will be weakened if you're sweaty or in a pool/the sea more. So, just reapply!
- higher temperatures mean it's working harder. Stay out of the sun the best you can.
- the higher the altitude or closer to the equator means you need more protection.

Here's some lovely ones that are cruelty-free and vegan. Remember - if you purchase from Look Fantastic, use my code LFTFSALIMOO and you'll likely get up to 20% off!

Charlotte Tilbury Invisable UV Flawless Poreless Primer - SPF 50

A staple in my makeup kit, as it sits lovely under makeup in the summer. It's expensive to use day in and day out, but I find it lovely for clients who're going to be wearing a full face for a full day.  (Use my code msmoomakeupSMFCX for 15% off your first order on CT!)

Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics - SPF 50

I've tried this one personally, and it's one of my favourites. It's very light and absorbs lovely.

Ultrasun UV Face & Scalp Mist - SPF 50

Spray version! Makes a great point of being a face and scalp mist - make sure you spray any areas of your scalp that are exposed, especially with hair partings or if you're losing your hair.

P20 Original SPF 50+ Spray - SPF 50

Another good spray, which states is for face and body. While it says it lasts up to 10 hours, take that with a pinch of salt. You still need to reapply regularly.

Ultrasun Transparent Sun Protection Sports Gel - SPF 30

A gel forumla, which feels nicer than the cream versions of SPF. States it's good for sports and is "water resistant" but considering you'll sweat doing sports, it's still important to ensure you reapply regularly.

The Body Shop Skin Defence Multi- Protection Light Essence - SPF 50

I find this a little greasy for every day use, but one of my friends absolutely loves it. She has much drier skin than me though.

The Ordinary UV Filters Sun Protection Serum - SPF 45

A good consistency, and absorbed nicely but I didn't like how it sat under my makeup. Great for use on its own though.

Pai Skincare British Summer Time Glow Illuminating Sunscreen - SPF 30

I did a reel about this after Pai kindly sent me some to use last year. Another great one for use on its own. Has an illuminating glow to it, so would be lovely for slightly older skins that need a little boost of glow. They have the same sunscreen without the glow here, which says it's situable for sensitive skin.

Inkey List - Polyglutamic Acid Dewy Sunscreen - SPF 30

Another one that I'd say is better suited to dry skinned babes, I didn't like how it felt on my oily skin but with some squalene in it, I think it'll hydrate dry skin just lovely.

Tropic Skincare Sun Stick - SPF 50

An easy one to keep in your handbag, in a stick form so you can swipe it over your skin wherever you are.
