Honeymoon Must Haves

Your honeymoon beauty routine should feel effortless — not like you packed your entire bathroom! You’re on an adventure together and whether you're heading somewhere tropical, city-chic, or countryside romantic, this blog has been put together to give you a guide that elevates your glow, without overcomplicating your routine. And coz it’s me; all the products I recommend are cruelty-free and vegan. You absolutely can have performance and ethics in one small travel bag! Here are ALL my recommended products.

Skincare; You want something that’s going to do the work but not take too much time. Pack light and make sure what you take packs a punch!

My on the go favourite is always ELF Cosmetics; their Holy Hydration! Cleanser is such a good price, and it doesn’t strip the skin of what it needs. It'll easily remove makeup and sunscreen without drying out your skin too; perfect after long travel, beach days, or time spent exploring!

After cleansing, you’re going to want a moisturiser. And you know what couples beautifully with the ELF Hydration Cleanser? Their Face cream! The lightweight hydrating face cream for supple skin is budget friendly, and there’s one that includes SPF 30 too. It includes HA and niacinamide too, giving your skin the much-needed hydration. They also have a night cream with Jojoba Oil, Shea Butter, and Cucumber Extract to soothe, soften, and deeply hydrate skin.

I’d also recommend an on-the-go SPF that you can take with you to top up if you’re exploring outside. Don’t scrimp on applying SPF. Skin cancer isn’t the take home memory that you want from your honeymoon!

I’d also say that lip hydration is important, especially if you’re somewhere hot. Forgetting your lips is super easy, but there are great products out there these days that both double as a gloss WITH added SPF – perfection! You can use them as a gloss during the day or wear slightly more during your nighttime routine as a mask so that is deeply conditions them.

Top tip: Pack sheet masks for a quick spa treatment wherever you are! Nothing feels better than a cool sheet mask and sitting still with your eyes shut for 10 minutes! Here are all the skincare products I recommend for your honeymoon!

Makeup; Let's make it effective, quick, and light to pack.

Now, I’m not one for wearing makeup on holiday (hell, I don't I wear it on a day-to-day basis at home) but if I can do a face of makeup before I go to dinner in under 5 minutes? Well, I’d be more inclined to do it. The trick is to have skin that looks like skin, products that feel easy, glow that comes from joy and rest, not a highlighter!

I would always go for cream/liquid products over powder, so that your face feels lighter and your travel bag is too. The aim of the game is to get some multi-use products to use day and/or night, or on both lips and cheeks. The benefit of that is that your makeup is cohesive and tied together, and you reduce your makeup application time. Double win!

The five products I'd choose to take with me are;

Concealer; a light touch under the eyes and on any breakouts will even you out, and lift the high points of your face. Pat with your finger to blend out if you don't take a brush.

Cream blusher; You can use this across your cheeks (and a little on your nose to add to your tan if you're away somewhere sunny!) and pop a little on your lips too. It'll save you taking a separate lipstick!

Mascara; A great waterproof will stand up to most activities, whatever the climate. If you want a gentler look for your honeymoon, maybe try a brown mascara. There's some great ones on the market these days that give you the lift and thickness you want, while being a touch softer when wearing less makeup.

Brow gel and pencil; You can always go for one or the other, but a gel will tame your brows and a pencil can be used to fill in any gaps and give you a polished look. Use both with a gentle touch so that you don't go putting too much product on.

Eyeshadow stick; I've used a few of these of late from different brands and while they last better all day with an eyeshadow primer, they stand up quite a long time without! Go for something lighter and brighter with a little shimmer and you can also use it as a highlighter.

Top tip: Instead of a blusher, you could always take one nude lipstick and one colour lipstick. If you mix them both you can get a couple of different shades for your time away, and you can sheer the lipsticks out with a balm or gloss too. Here are all the makeup products I've been loving recently that would be great for your honeymoon makeup bag!
